Accessibility
Draft of 22 October 2026.
We want everyone to be able to export and read documents with RTL Export for Confluence. This statement describes how the app and its exports work with assistive technology, and what does not work yet.
The export dialog and the settings page
- They are built from standard controls (buttons, drop-down lists and check boxes) with visible labels, inside Confluence's own dialog and settings pages, so they can be used with the keyboard and announced by screen readers.
- Progress, warnings and errors are announced to screen readers as they appear.
- They have not yet been audited against WCAG 2.2 level AA.
The exports
- Word documents use real headings, lists and table header rows, keep each image's alternative text from Confluence, and set each paragraph's direction, so screen readers read them in the right order. They are the most accessible export.
- The print view is a web page with headings, lists, tables and the images' alternative text, which screen readers can read before you print it.
- PDFs from Download PDF declare the document's language and have bookmarks for the headings, but they are not tagged: screen readers read their text without its structure of headings, lists and tables. When you need an accessible file, use the Word document.
Feedback
